We have many locations, none of which are broadcasting the SSID. All of the profiles are setup to automatically connect. In the network settings, when you view known networks, they are listed. But they will not connect unless you re-add them manually, creating duplicate entries. We cannot have our staff manually connecting to hidden networks every time they show up a location. For security reasons, we are not broadcasting our SSID and handing out our network passwords.

I brought back some of these computers to our test lab. I followed the steps provided by the Microsoft support forum, which said I need to uninstall the device in device manager and restart the computer. This did not resolve the issue. Our lab has most of the SSIDs setup, but again they are hidden. The computers do not automatically connect to them.

This only verifies that the profile and configurations are installed properly. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback.

My connections are set to “connect even if not network is not broadcasting”. And I notice that it is happening on all of our Windows 10 machines does not seem affect any of the Windows 7 computers. When the Win 10 computer boots and you enter your credentials, there is an “x” in the Wi-Fi icon. So only users that have previously logged into the machine can do so.

Once at the desktop, the icon again show an “x” in it. When you click on this to show available network, the known networks do not show up. So we add the network again.

Once the network has been added, and the computer is connected, the the other instances show up. I did notice that if I boot the computer, log in, and then walk away, it will eventually connect. This was never an issue until recently, and it is only happening on the Windows 10 machines.

We cannot have our employees start their laptops and instruct them to go get a cup of coffee or take a break for a while, before you can use their computers. And we cannot have them constantly adding new connection every time they use their computers.

This is not a specific brand. I don’t believe it is a driver issue. I have tried deleting the driver and rebooting and reinstalling.

This issue is happening across all brands and types of mobile devices laptops, 2-in-1, surface pros, etc Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.
